<image:caption>Little do you know at the time that this new found love will shape the rest of your life; taking you to amazing places, introducing you to lifelong friends, and defining your journey to come. For me, I was lucky that this love was music, and more specifically, the electric guitar. For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with the instrument. The look, the sound, the music. All of it. I vividly remember taking mail order guitar catalogs to school, pouring over the pages of instruments, and circling ones that caught my eye. Years later, this love remains as strong today as it was decades ago. From playing major gigs in front of thousands in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park and Grant Park, to sold out shows at legendary venues like Eddie’s Attic, to playing festivals like ColaJazz Fest and the SC Jazz Festival, the guitar has taken me all over the country. I have been fortunate to perform on stage with such artists as Wycliffe Gordon, Quentin Baxter (drummer from the Grammy winning Ranky Tanky), and Michael Dease, and share the stage with performers including the late Butch Trucks (drummer of the Allman Bros. Band), the late Col. Bruce Hampton, and many others that have shaped my journey. I completed my Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Jazz Studies at the University of South Carolina, where I studied guitar, improvisation, and theory with Bert Ligon, Dr. Matt White and Dr. Colleen Clark, and attend masterclass lessons with Peter Bernstein, Jonathan Kreisberg, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Jeff Coffin, and many other incredible artists. Currently I am a faculty member of Clayton State University, where I teach Improvisation, Applied Guitar lessons, and lead the jazz ensemble. I lead jazz trios performing my original music, covers, as well as jazz standards, and will be releasing a duo album with Tony Lee entitled Still in the spring of 2025</image:caption>

      <image:title>Teaching - Inspire.</image:title>
<image:caption>I have been teaching music for almost as long as I can remember playing it. In high school I began teaching students weekly, typically averaging around 5 students a week. These lessons ranged from guitar players of different levels to classical and marching band horn students, as well as some music theory lessons. Connecting with a student, finding out where they currently are on their musical journey and where they want go, and developing a map to accomplish this growth are my favorite aspects of teaching. Too often I find music lessons (especially online ones) are cookie cutter, copy and paste jobs that don’t take these things into account. My own journey has been a very non-linear path, full of false starts, leaps, failures, successes and pivots along the way. I love working with guitarists with limited background in jazz, musical notation, theory, etc and finding ways to meet them where they are and present these concepts in easily understandable terms. I am currently a faculty member of Clayton State University, where I teach Improvisation, Applied Guitar lessons, and lead the jazz ensemble. I also offer in person lessons in Atlanta, GA as well as virtual lessons for anywhere else in the world. I would love to speak with you about what you are looking to do and how I can help you get there.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“When you begin to see the possibilities of music, you desire to do something really good for people.” – John Coltrane In addition to performing and teaching, I am passionate about how these two aspects of my life can intersect with working for positive change in our community and society as a whole. Below is a partial list of organizations, schools, non-profits, and businesses that I have partnered with to help impact change throughout the southeast. These partnerships have included performing for fundraisers or events, educational sessions for schools and classrooms, and many other concepts. I would love to speak with you about how we can work together using music to make our city, state, or region a better place to be for all.</image:caption>
